As many of you know, I will be on sabbatical for six weeks from 1st September (followed by a week’s holiday for the October half-term). After nearly ten years here in the parish, I am grateful for this opportunity now offered to ministers by Presbytery, and for the support of our Kirk Session in this endeavour. As parish ministry has changed significantly since the days of my training, and with our changed context here with a bigger parish area and fewer buildings to serve the whole parish, I want to use the time to explore how best to adjust to these changes, and how best to continue my ministry in a sustainable way – reflections for which there simply is no time in the usual day-to-day, and hope to have some time simply to think, pray, read and write. You may see me around, but other ministers will cover for me over this time. Every Sunday service will be led by a different minister – all of whom bring interesting perspectives with them. Details are provided in the service list (and Presbytery is covering the pulpit supply cost), and pastoral care will be provided by three of my neighbouring colleagues. Please contact them if you need to speak to a minister during my absence:
