festival of flowers 28th-31st may

6/5/2026

We are looking forward to our 2026 Festival of Flowers, taking place at Humbie Kirk from Thursday 28th to Sunday 31st May, every day from 10am to 4pm.

Entry is £5 (children free), which includes coffee or tea and a cream scone.

We have a family competition to 'Grow a Garden in a Box'. Sturdy boxes are available from us, and completed gardens should be brought to Humbie Kirk on Wednesday, 27th May, please.

On Saturday, 30th, we encourage all our visitors to come and see us and then go on to our annual Church Fete in the Manse Garden in Gifford, between 2 and 4.30pm.

On Sunday, 31st, the Festival will close with Songs of Praise at 4pm in Humbie Kirk.

We hope you can join us!

Our next Messy Church is on Sunday, 10th May, 4-6pm in the Village Hall in Garvald, where we'll be exploring the story of Daniel in the Lions' Den.

All children of pre-school and primary school age are warmly invited, together with their parents, grandparents or carers. We’ll have crafts and a toddler corner, games and a story, and a shared supper for the children.

We have a great team preparing these events, and it would be wonderful to have more families join in.

The next events in 2026 will be on Sundays
23rd August (East Saltoun) and 15th November (Humbie).

Here you can find the narrative part of the Reports & Accounts, and for a detailed copy including the balance sheets, please get in touch with Wendy, our Treasurer. Printed copies will be available at the meeting.

We had a wonderful Coffee Morning yesterday in Humbie Village Hall. As every spring, it was a lovely occasion to come together over a cup of coffee or tea, with delicious homebaking. We had stalls offering plants, bric a brac, crocheting and home produce including cakes and biscuits, granola, jams and preserves and soup. As usual, we had a very popular raffle and tombola, and a hamper competition. We raised phenomenal £1,900.50 for the work of our church. Thank you to all the planners and helpers, at the stalls and in the kitchen, and everyone who came along and supported the event.

On Sunday afternoon, we had our first Messy Church of the year, thinking about spring and the promise of new life at Easter in Gifford Village Hall. We had a lot of fun decorating biscuits, with great help from our teenage volunteers, painting watercolour flowers and seasonal ceramic decorations, making caterpillars and butterflies, and having our faces beautifully painted.

Then, we heard the Easter story via a wonderful lego video, and had a children's prayer with seashells and pebbles.

And then we shared a lovely supper of macaroni cheese and cake. A very joyful afternoon!
