After the service, we shared lunch together, with many dishes brought along by different members of the congregation.
We are very grateful to Hamish and his daughter Trudi at Crafrae Farm, and their whole team, for making us so welcome. Hamish and his late wife Dot have long been involved with our church, Dot as a daughter of the manse herself (in her case at Athelstaneford) and Hamish as longstanding elders. Long before our union, they were already the original members of both Yester and Garvald Churches.
On Saturday, for the first time we had a stall at the Haddington Show, together with our friends from Traprain and Dunglass Parishes, as rural churches serving rural communities. It was lovely to see so many of you there!
We've had a very busy weekend full of excitement and fun!
And on Saturday, our Church Fete was back in the Manse garden in Gifford, with lots of visitors, Janet's and Christine's famous cream teas, live music provided by very talented friends of our church led by Johnny and Philip, and many many games and stalls on offer. As ever, Claire and Liz did a fantastic job planning and coordinating it all, and many who were there commented on the lovely atmosphere. We raised more than £2,500 for the church - thank you all so much! Here are a few photos of the event:
A lot of hands - big and small - (and a horse-trailor) were needed to set it all up and tidy away again - many thanks! Our Festival of flowers, 28th to 31st May at Humbie Kirk, is fully underway! You can see some photos here, and if you can, come and see (and smell!) for yourself!
On Sunday, 31st May, we'll have a Songs of Praise service for the whole family at 4pm, to close the Flower Festival in Humbie Kirk, followed by refreshments. Please send us your favourite hymns, and shout-outs on the day will be very welcome, too. We hope you can join us!  |
